Apple Watch · Hypertension region
Hypertension notifications require specific hardware, age, and region
Hypertension notifications are Apple's most tightly gated health feature. Series 9 or Ultra 2 only — no exceptions for SE owners. You must be 22 or older, not pregnant, and in a supported country. Even then, the feature does not diagnose hypertension. It flags a pattern and tells you to confirm with a real blood pressure cuff over 7 days. Hong Kong is supported. Most of Asia is not.
Why are hypertension notifications not showing?
Requirements: Apple Watch Series 9 or later (or Ultra 2), no Apple Watch SE support, age 22+, not pregnant, and a supported country. After receiving a notification, Apple recommends confirming with a third-party cuff-based blood pressure monitor over 7 days and consulting a medical professional.
Why Apple Watch SE is excluded
Hypertension notifications rely on advanced sensor processing available only on Series 9 and Ultra 2 or later. The SE models lack the necessary hardware capabilities for this specific feature.
- Series 9/Ultra 2+ required
- Apple Watch SE NOT supported
- Age 22+
- Not pregnant
- Region-gated
Frequently asked questions
Does WLOC help with hypertension notification eligibility?
WLOC can verify the device-location condition if you are in a supported country but your device detects an unsupported location. It does not change your Apple ID region, age, or hardware model.
