Apple Watch ยท Cycle Tracking region

Cycle Tracking not available? The region-model-age triangle

Cycle Tracking on Apple Watch has two tiers: basic cycle logging (available widely) and retrospective ovulation estimates using wrist temperature (requires Series 8 or Ultra, and is region-gated). If temperature-sensing features are missing, your region is the most likely culprit.

Why is Cycle Tracking with temperature data not showing?

Retrospective ovulation estimates require an Apple Watch Series 8 or later (or any Ultra model) with wrist-temperature sensing enabled. This feature is also region-limited. Basic cycle logging is available in many more regions and does not require a temperature-capable watch.

Two tiers of Cycle Tracking

Basic cycle logging and period prediction are available on Apple Watch Series 1 and later in most regions. The advanced features use wrist-temperature data and require Series 8, Series 9, or any Ultra model.

Temperature sensing needs about five nights of sleep data with Sleep Focus enabled before it establishes a baseline.

  • Basic logging: Series 1+, most regions
  • Temperature features: Series 8/Ultra, limited regions
  • Requires 5 nights of sleep data

Does WLOC enable Cycle Tracking temperature features?

WLOC can verify whether device location is the blocker, but region, model, age, and regulatory approval are independent requirements.
